Fresh food in our backyard

Edward Scown from the Bunbury Mail did a feature on the Backyard Pantry, and wanted to meet with Andrew from Marigold Lamb, to get his take on why he signed up to join the Backyard Pantry community.

Here’s a short quote from the article: “Andrew Broun is one of many farmers plugging away on modest properties in the south west. Like a lot of those farmers, he doesn’t get a very big cut of the rising price you’d pay for his lamb at the shops. That’s why he put his product… into The Backyard Pantry. A new website born and raised in Bunbury, which acts as an online marketplace, connecting buyers directly with the farmer.”

“The idea is people who want to connect with where their food comes from, can place an order direct with us, rather than going through the normal supply chain,” Mr Broun said.”

The vision of the Backyard Pantry is to make good, fresh food easily accessible to everyone in WA – building a local sustainable network of buyers and sellers, right here in Western Australia – connecting consumers who care about where their food comes from directly to the farmers and producers growing, raising and making their food.
