You can complete an order form now and we will let you know when our first animals are ready.

Availability

If we cannot fill your order in the current month, you will be first on the list the following month.

Ordering

Step 1 – Choose your beef

We recommend reviewing your choices – deciding between a half or quarter animal.

Step 2 – Place your order

Complete the relevant order form by clicking on the “Order now from Carlaminda” button and submit your form

Step 3 – Your order is confirmed

Wait to hear from us. Once we receive your form, we will be in contact to let you know the collection date for your selected pickup location.

Step 4 – Pay deposit

Once your pickup date has been confirmed, we’ll send you an invoice requesting payment for the deposit (and to thank you for supporting our family farm!). Your order is confirmed once the deposit has been received.

Step 5 – Pay balance

There is nothing more you need to do until our certified processor informs us of the carcass weight. We will then provide an invoice with the balance of your payment which will be due prior to collection of your product.

Step 6 – Collect your beef

To ensure the quality of your beef, we recommend collecting your product as soon as possible on your collection day.

Pricing

Our price is based on the carcass weight of the animal, as the amount of bone left in the cuts you choose affects the delivered cost per kilogram.

Our target carcass weight is 230kg (+/-20kg). The cost you pay is $17/kg on the carcass weight. This works out to $1955 for a half and $978 for a quarter animal at target weight. You can opt for a larger or smaller carcass when ordering.

The weight is confirmed by our local certified processor a week before your collection date.

Understanding weights

– Live weight

The weight of the live animal in the paddock

– Carcass weight

Also known as the dressed weight. This is the weight after being processed at the abattoir. Essentially, it is the animal with head, hooves, skin and internal organs removed. It DOES include bones, fat and sinew. This is the weight that is used to calculate the cost to you.

– Delivered weight

The weight of the beef products that are packaged and ready to go into your freezer. This DOES include fat (for tallow), soup bones (marrow bones for bone broth), and dog bones (we use these in curries and soups… Gus, our whippet, gets lucky too!).

The delivered weight will vary depending on the individual animal, the amount of moisture lost during hanging, and the amount of waste (unusable fat and trim).
