It’s hard to pin-point the exact date we want to celebrate as our first birthday…
- December 2021 we started researching the concept and building the platform
- July 2022 we launched the platform and ran our free trial for a small group of local WA producers
- Late 2022 we started advertising, getting some media coverage and gaining some traction
So, we’d say “Late 2022” the Backyard Pantry officially kicked off!
Thank you to everyone who joined our community over the past year. But a special thanks to these 10 producers who signed up during our initial trial period. They have been with us ever since and we love working alongside them to share their amazing products, stories and journeys with you all.
Make sure to go check out their stalls and follow their socials. They are all local WA families who are passionate about making good quality, healthy produce and products available to the rest of our state:
- Margaret River Made – botanically based, eco-friendly hair & skincare products (Perth)
- Galloway Springs – regenerative farmers growing spray free food for their community (Bridgetown)
- Thuringia Estate – regenerative avocado farmers producing cold pressed avocado oil (Lake Jasper)
- Marigld Lamb – premium pasture raised lamb farmers (Preston Valley with Perth pick up available)
- Haven Farm Stall – farming family growing spray free fruits and veggies for their community (Scotsdale)
- Solarfruit – premium sundried fruit bars (Donnybrook)
- Farm Fresh Truffles – truffle farmers making 100% natural truffle salt (Pemberton)
- Gelato Buonissimo – locally made small batch artisan gelato (Busselton)
- Bolinda Vale Farm – roadside stall with fresh farm grown, spray free produce available to the community (Keysbrook)

New producer: Kikuyu Downs Grass Fed Meats
In 2021 Robert and Monique’s dream came true when they purchased a well renowned farm in picturesque Walpole, WA with stunning ocean views. From here they have established a successful mixed livestock enterprise using regenerative farming practices.
Due to their unique geographical location and green pastures all year round, Robert and Monique are able to produce some of the finest quality meat. This is due to their livestock having access to graze on green pastures all year-round and breathing in some of the cleanest air on the planet.
That's a wrap for 2023!
That’s it from us for this year – we can’t wait to share more amazing WA made produce and products with you in the near year. But for now, we’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a fabulous New year!
Enjoy the holidays
